Sunshine Coast P. C. Y. C. History

The Sunshine Coast Police Citizens Youth Club (originally the Nambour Police Youth Club) was opened in July 1975 on a 5.5 hectare site in Youth Avenue Nambour and was made possible through the donation of the land and enormous fundraising by members of the local Community. Their aim was to provide a sporting and recreational facility for the area and for the P.C.Y.C. to foster relationships between young people on the Sunshine Coast and members of the police force.

The Queensland Police Service provides support with the posting of a Sergeant of Police as Branch Manager to provide the vital link with youth and crime prevention.

The P.C.Y.C. offers something for everyone with a wide range of activities. The aim is to provide a low cost facility for the whole family.

Whilst the club does not attract on going funding, over years several grants have been received for upgrading the facility from Jupiter's and Gaming Machine Benefit funds, Dept Family Services, Qld Community Foundation and donations from local community based organisations such as the Nambour Masonic Lodge and Maroochy Shire Council grants. These, together with donations from local businesses have enabled the club to continue its' vital role in the community. The P.C.Y.C. Management Committee comprises of local members of the community together with the Branch Manager and they would welcome any support in their aim to have the Sunshine Coast P.C.Y.C. home to all families on the coast.
